CNC Machining

CNC Machining, or computer numerical control machining, utilizes tools that can be computer controlled such as lathes, mills, routers and grinders. At ARC Technologies, we offer the following types of CNC machining services.

Honeycomb machining
ARC Technologies, Inc. can machine a wide variety of honeycomb from something as simple as facing sheets to a desired thickness or complex pyramidal shapes. Our machining envelope for honeycomb is 60”x120” x 16” We can hold tolerances on Honeycomb in the cell direction to +/-.005” and with/across the ribbon direction + .030”/-.060”

Composite machining
We make custom fixtures for composite pieces to be vacuumed down for tight tolerances. We can do short runs or large production runs of any composite as well as any material. All composite machining is done dry, no coolant of any sort is used in the process. We use diamond tooling to ensure the best finish without delamination.

Extrusion tooling
Here at ARC, we make all of our own in house extruding die plates and machine adapters, as well as downstream cooling fixtures. We have a turnaround time of 3-4 weeks for outside work. We machine all pieces necessary from raw bar stock, turning the dies on the CNC Lathe, Milling and drilling the components in the Milling Center, burning the extrusion design out with precision EDM work and finishing off with deburring and assembly

Thermoplastic machining
We can machine sheet stock down to a thickness of .007”. We can machine complex shapes and profiles, from lathe work to milling. We have perfected the speeds and feeds which are critical to cutting this material.

Foam machining
We can machine loaded foam to a tolerance of +/- .030” typically or better upon request.We machine very complex geometries and sweeping surfaces. We can utilize the 5-axis machines for 5-sided machining in 1 operation reducing the number of setups and setup times.
